Primary Health Care (PHC) is a set of new political, scientific, technical, social, economic and methodological processes, requiring will, political decision and accurate infrastructure for its development.

 

PHC requires, for its development, the consequent formation of the Doctor every country needs. Today, one of the highest worldwide challenges is the PHC development.

 

Since the first seminar, held in Cuba in 1986, PHC has experienced progressive changes. Therefore, the 9th Seminar in 2006, aims to review and discuss the way in which Excellence and Quality in PHC can be achieved, in the Services likewise in Teaching and Research.

 

In the 9th Seminar we will discuss and review the following enquiries:

·          What is PHC in each country?

·          What is the importance of PHC in the integral scheme of care to the health-disease process?

·          What is Family Medicine?

·          Where is the Family Medicine addressing to in the 21st Century?

 

Cuba has made extraordinary progress in health care and, by 1983; it has already met indicators set by the World Health Organization (WHO) to asses the Health for All Strategy. The country has furthermore introduced strategic changes intended to enhance its National Health System.

 

Despite the differences among countries, the meeting will be an opportunity to exchange experiences and “to learn from each other”.

 

Nowadays in Cuba, the Struggle of Ideas for the people integral culture has produced an impacting movement seeking for the improvement of health, education, social security, culture and sports, which has revealed remarkable innovations.

 

This meeting as others previously held, will be attended by authorities from United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations and renowned personalities from the field of health care.

FREE ORAL TOPICS AND POSTERS PRESENTATION

 

·          Oral:              Presentation should not exceed 10 minutes.

After three presentations there are 10 minutes for discussion and at the end of each topic the president of each committee will conclude the debate.

 

·          Posters:       Following the format: Introduction, Methods, Results,  

                        Discussion  and Conclusions.

·     The title will have no more than 15 words and the    characters  will be 3cm height, bold type and thick.

·     The presentation sequence will be from left to right            

·     The board size will be 82 cm wide (horizontal) and 120 cm height  (vertical)
